ANALYSIS and OPINION:
This blog post is in four parts: (1) an introduction; (2) the video; (3) a video which modifiies and supplements our opinion in video (2) and (4) ChatGPTs analysis of the Rand Paul verus Dr. Fauci debate over the origins of Covid.
(1) Introduction:
Should Americans care what goes on in New York City. Doesn’tNew York have its own unique problems. Slightly over 36 % of all New Yorkers were born outside of the United States. It’s clearly much more expensive to live there than in most other places in the U.S. That means the struggles of the poor and less fortunate, and perhaps a lot of immigrants, are more severe than in other places. Desperation politics is thus likely to occur.
Doesn’t New York City’s uniqueness call for unique strategies?
All people. All political parties have good ideas and bad ones. Should we make decisions on a case by case and issue by issue basis rather than on which party proposes them? Wouldn’t that lead to more fruitful discussions and more compromises and thus more legislative action? Most people do not agree with every position taken by their political party and the politicians they’ve voted for. In our prior history it was much more common for representatives of one party to vote with representatives of another party on one or two issues. This is clearly true of Senator Fetterman of Pennsylvania today.
These important questions have a bearing on whether Democrats should stop criticizing and worrying about Social Democrats. Partiuclarly in these dangerous times where the oligarchs are funding a wannabe dictator who is supported by a GOP that seemingly is willing to sell our Constitution down the tubes by caving to his every whim. Ditto a Supreme Court that has two justices taking gifts from big-time GOP donors.
In short, democracy requires that Constitution loving citizens of all kinds unite to stop Trump. And, the only way to do that is by voting exclusively for Democrats and/or Democratic Socialists and/or anti-Trump independents but NOT ANY Republicans. Why? Even if a Republican is a rational, descent human being with an ounce of sense, if the GOP controls Congress, the GOP has proven time and time again that Trump will get his way and he will use their support to increase his personal wealth and power. That means we will put our other foot in the grave of totalitarianism and once we give up our democracy, in the age of robots and AI we are unlikely to ever get it back.
How does the GOP plan to maintain control of Congress?

An important example of distraction politics is the Senator Rand Paul v Dr. Anthony Fauci debate as to the origins of the Covid pandemic and Senator Paul’s vitriolic attacks of Fauci’s handling of the Covid pandemic. Below are: Our video on Distraction Politics and below that is ChatGPT’s analysis of the Paul v Fauci debate.
(3) Below is our video [which is scheduled to be published August 2, 2026 at 7 pm] which modifies and supplements some of the facts and opinions expressed in the video in (2) above
It would be fair to say that we would encourage people to vote for and support politicians like Senator Bernie Sanders on most issues. However, that support does not extend to: (i) eliminating the U.S. Senate, (ii) having the House of Representatives appoint the President and the justices on the Supreme Court; nor does that support extend to (iii) abolishing capitalism. Capitalism is the best driver of any economy but it is not perfect and requires government to impose regulations to assure: (a) fair wages and working conditions for workers; (ii) protection for the environment; (iii) anti-trust provisions to prevent monopolies; and (iv) similar provisions, iincluding tax laws to prevent oligarchy and plutocracy (a small group of super-wealthy individuals). The need for a better healthcare system and amore affordable higher education system we also agree upon, but in many instances democratic socialists want to create systems and programs that are too expensive and impractical.
Even though Democratic Socialists are in favor of free and fair elections the Democratic Socialist Party appears to want a democracy based more on the system used by Great Britain, than under our Constitution. While the British system is not autocratic (dictatorial) we strongly believe in the U.S. Constitutional system. The democratic socialist idea of eliminating the electoral college however, is intriguing.
It is our belief that worrying too much about the formalized plank/agenda of the Democratic Socialist Association is being too skittish. Why? (i) The Democratic Socialist Association (DSA) has only 120,000 members nationwide; (ii) the U.S. Constitution is extremely difficult to amend; (iii) the Democratic Party (the traditional democrats) is/are extremely unlikely to be in favor the more radical positions that the DSA espouses particularly regarding fundamental changes to our system of government (with the possible exception of the elimination of the electoral college).
We continue to grapple with the socialism issue. Our opinion evolves:
