ANALYSIS and OPINION:
Mayor Mamdani and other Democratic Socialists are gaining a bigger voice around the country. Some say they are causing a civil war in the Democratic Party. Worse, President Trump and Fox News tell viewers to be worried about the rise of communism and point to the Democratic Socialists as proof.
What is one to think? Should we worry?
A Preliminary Word
I’m sure the videos in the posts on this page will seem a little self-contradictory at times. Suffice it to say, that we are a little torn about how to deal with the most extreme democratic socialists. Rest very assured, however, that we are absolutely certain of what the number one priority of every freedom and democracy loving soul should be. And that is to do anything and everything that is legally permissible to preserve our Constitution and our democracy and to save it from the guy who has absolutely no respect for our Constitution nor our democracy. Moreover, all voters must also save our democracy from his sycophantic, spineless followers in the GOP have allowed him to sprinkle and spread over our entire government the cancer of thousands of inept and neo-fascist yes men.
Having witnessed Trump in action (governmentally speaking) for 10 years now, anyone who cannot see this doesn’t want to see it and/or have had their minds so corrupted by right wing media and/or Fox News and/or their own racial and/or other prejudices so as to be mental zombies incapable of seeing the truth. Letting neo-fascist genocidal Netanyahu talk him into the Iran War (when his National Intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard said Iran was not building a nuclear weapon), discredited tariff policies, alienation from our NATO friends and allies including Canada, cozy relations with Putin, Epstein, 34 felony convictions, the E. Jean Carroll sexual improprieties judgment, inflation, exhorbitant gas prices, Gestapoed ICE, deploying national guard troops just like a dictator in our cities. The list of horrible things Trump has done or attempted to do is endless. And lest, we forget to mention it, he’s totally neglected the environment, let social security and various essential government benefit programs for the sick and disabled slip into a sad state of disrepair and, in the meantime, with his gargantuan wartime expenditures, has allowed federal debt to soar to levels never seen before, which will, in the end cause higher interest rates in the future.
Meanwhile Trump and his family are improperly (and probably illegally) pocketing billions as fruits of his presidency. And the Republicans don’t do anything about it.
But the very biggest sin Trump has committed was his attempt to unlawfully remain in power and disrupt the electoral vote on January 6, 2021 certifying Joe Biden as President. Sixty Courts (with Republican and Democratic judges) struck down attempts by Trump to invalidate that election. Looking at the totality of the evidence pertaining to that evidence and the extremely violent Capitol Riot which ensured once can’t help but to agree with what the courts in Colorado held. Namely, the Colorado courts held that Trump was guilty of engaging in insurrectionist activities in connection with the events of January 6, 2021. Given all of this there can be no doubt that Trump has shown that he is willing to use force and/or engage in other improprieties to unlawfully stay in power–just like a dictator.
If we lose our democracy to a dictator, any dictator, in an era where the government has access to cameras everywhere, where it can spy on everything on line where it has the most sophisticated weapons, where it can manipulate and control the information we receive, where it now has access to artificial intelligence and sooner than we’d like to admit, robot armies, not to mention a Gestapo like ICE–in short, if we lose our democracy we will never get it back. It will be a life of repression. No bill of rights. No rule of law. Repressive government for the benefit of only the dictator and his buddies.
In short, there is absolutely no excuse for supporting Trump. None. And now his GOP enablers must go. All of them–or at least as many as voters can get rid of.
Trump is trying to be a dictator and the GOP is far too dangerously supportive of him and his ilk. Thus, the elections in November of 2026 will be the most important in our nation’s history. And we are not exaggerating. If we let the GOP maintain control of Congress Trump will get his SAVE Act passed (which will effectively deny less privileged and minority folks the right to vote). Trump and Republicans have repeatedly denied the validity of the 2020 election with no basis for doing so. They are guided by the endless brainwashing of Fox News and right wing media and are too far gone to think rationally.
While it is true that the Democrats have a few warts. As we like to say: Democrats commit misdemeanors, but todays Republicans commit felonies. In fact, in making Trump their leader, they’ve commited a capital one. Given the overarching super-priority of electing Democrats to majorities in both the House and the Senate in order to stop Trump, we published this next video on August 7, 2026: [Note the videos below are in inverse order with the oldest videos appearing at the bottom and this next one being our most recent.]
In short, to the extent democratic socialists truly believe in democracy (and not one party rule), deny Marxist beliefs in a totally classless society and in the abolition of private property we welcome them in the righteous fight against Trump, autocracy, oligopoly, unduly large wealth and income gaps, and a neo-fascist GOP. We share the objective of better pay for workers, better government assistance for health care, a secure retirement and equal protection of the law for persons of all races, colors, religions, national origins and sexes. We demand a society governed by the rule of law where our Constitution remains supreme.
Our belief repeatedly stated is that free market capitalism is the best economic system devised by man to generate wealth. However, we do believe that it must have adequate guardrails in the form of reasonable and fair regulation to assure that monopolies and oligopolies do not arise, that workers are paid more fairly than they have been, and that the environment and other public interests are adequately and reasonably protected. In this regard, much more needs to be done to assure and protect the public welfare when it comes to future development of artificial intelligence.
[Important Note August 2, 2026] Below is our video [which is scheduled to be published August 2, 2026 at 7 pm] which modifies and supplements some of the facts and opinions expressed in the other (two original) videos which are posted at the bottom of this page]
A Comprehensive Review
For those who want to take a truly deeper dive, of particular note below is the in-depth 1 hour and 20 minute video we did on socialism in March of 2021. It’s presented in a more formalized academic fashion. Here’s what we said about that March 2021 video:
“[It discusses] the merits of Socialism and Communism. Advantages and disadvantages. Comparison of economic performance of capitalist systems (such as the United States) versus socialist and communist countries (that is France, the UK, versus Russia and China etc) Social Democratic and Democratic Socialism are also discussed. “Quality of life” survey results also included. Authoritarian tendencies of Communism. Is that what Karl Marx had in mind? David Dixon Lentz of reasonandbalance.com. Hitler’s Germany and Fascism also included.”
We also did 2 other videos which are at the bottom of this page:
