[ANALYSIS and OPINION]
Here’s the video we posted on May 5, 2025. We should note couple of things about the video. We were/are uncertain about whether it’s theoretically possible for Trump to serve jail time in New York. He was not sentenced to any jail time in New York this past fall. However we are uncertain whether the New York appeals courts can order a retrial of Trump. If it can, he can still possibly go to jail in New York. Of course, there’s still the Georgia criminal matter against Trump, but the Republicans have been at least somewhat successful in derailing that case. (Republicans always mess with the procedure if they know they are going to lose on the merits.) [They ought to mess with Justices Alito and Thomas for accepting unethical gifts from known Republican donors. But of course they won’t.). The point is, however, that Trump has an incentive to try to stay out of jail and he’s not free and clear on thiat issue yet.
Beyond the foregoing, Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021 prove beyond question that he is willing to undertake any action to stay in power. He craves power. Moreover, he has a felony record for lying (yes, lying) 34 times on his business records. He’s had numerous lieutenants get convicted of crimes, or in the case of his attorneys, get disbarred. In short would you trust anyone with the past record that Trump and/or his associates have?
To add to the foregoing, Trump almost certainly lied about not being aware of “Project 2025” the right wing plan to gut government and install hard line right wingers in high government posts during the 2024 campaign. Trump has turned around and implemented project 2025 to the letter. Trump has changed his mind about tariffs and tariff rates daily. Even hardline MAGA supporters will tell you that you can’t take everything that Trump says seriously.
Given the foregoing, how can any sane rational person trust Trump when he says he wont’ stay in office beyond 2028? At this point it is criminally negligent for anyone to trust anything Trump says. He’s killing our democracy. Impeach and convict him now. Write your Congressmen, especially if he’s a Republican. Every Republican Congressman ought to be kicked and kicked hard (you know where) for allowing this wannabe dictator to last this long.

P.S. While we do take notice of when Rupert Murdoch’s publications criticize Trump, (and I will thank him when he does) the simple fact of the matter is that all of his publications have made the rise of Trump possible and thus done a tremendous disservice to American democracy. Murdoch and his publications are right wing, oligarch supporting and self-serving and when his publications do criticize Trump, it’s not for the fact that Trump is wrongfully usurping power and wants to be a dictator. No. Murdoch’s publications normally criticize Trump because they think some of his policies won’t make Murdoch enough money. To Murdoch its not about principal or what’s right. It’s about money. Always about money.
