Good evenin’ folks

Stony here

Along with Buck, Suzi and

the rest of the crew

Here at DJ Ltd

Rufus will be by later

I don’t know where GURU is

but I’m sure we ain’t heard the last of him

Anyway we’re all here

To bring Yinz an evenin’ of

Toe tappin’ tunes and some

Good old fashioned fun

Okay we start tonight

With a group we can’t help but play

‘cos they are just soooo good

we’ve played ’em before

and I’m sure

before it’s all over

we’ll play em again

They won a Grammy in 2017

For Feel It Still

One of my absolutely fav tunes

They came down from our 49tth State

where they began playing together in High School

They are fronted by John Gourley

They are simply outstanding

Here’s…

Portugal the Man with  Creep in a T-Shirt

https://youtu.be/TTgC6BszjQk?si=KdsdzW1R08LLWr6T

That sounded just great

what a way to start.

Next up we have an entertaining outfit from Seattle

Who were active in the late 60s and early 70s

Originally from Seattle

At first they toured mostly on the West Coast

But eventually broadened their audience East

And even did a tour in Japan

These guys rock with horns

With maybe a hint of soul as well

Here’s….

Ballin’ Jack with  Found a Child

https://youtu.be/me1JFWaB740?si=5NoNsoJ_rfr_KrCb

okay everyone outta be in the grove by now

for a change of pace

let’s slow it down a bit

I can’t believe we haven’t played our next tune before tonight

This song is simply gorgeous

And to add to that

it is sung

By an outrageously gorgeous woman

Who just so happens to be

Loretta Lynn’s younger sister

This is simply put

A country classic

That also did extremely well

…and with good reason…

on the “Pop” charts as well

So let’s give a listen to

Crystal Gayle

Singin’       Don’t It Make Your Brown Eyes Blue

https://youtu.be/pG8g0TzYqLo?si=ISfeLyjokyQ_1Z7R

Okay…it’s about that time again

Yep…our station manager Rufus

Rufus Coldwater that is,

has stepped into the studio

and is about to lay a few words

of wisdom on us.

Take it away Rufus

Thanks Stony.

Well, I had this big speech prepared about Nick Saban and his thoughts on why so many quarterbacks fail in the NFL but then I learned that Ukraine has apparently sent troops into Russia where they are now engaged in live combat with Russian forces.

In normal times this would unquestionably be the very top headline news story anywhere.   But these are such strange times, with so much happening that it’s almost as if folks don’t seem to notice.

Can you imaging Mexico invading Texas?  Or better yet, Cuba invading South Florida using Russian weapons and supplies?  Americans would be joining the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and our new Space Force in droves. Everyone would be going absolutely bonkers and many would call for the immediate nuking of Moscow.

While I’m amazed and extremely impressed at how well the Ukrainians have done in fending off the Russian invasion, this situation should alarm everyone because, make no mistake, Putin and worse, the average Russian, is likely to hold the U.S. responsible for Ukraine’s newest offensive thrust.   From what I understand the Ukrainians, so far, have penetrated about 14 miles into Russian territory.

Frankly, I don’t know what to say or think.  I think it quite possible that at least two major factors came into play that precipitated the Ukrainian offensive.  First, is that this has now been a long war of attrition that Russia is better able to bear than Ukraine.  Russia is much larger than Ukraine both population wise and in terms of the ability manufacture and supply itself with arms.  And secondly, the U.S. election.  My guess is that when it became obvious that Trump was going to be the Republican nominee that the Ukrainians, and with good reason, became deeply worried that Trump would lessen or even totally withdraw U.S. support for Ukraine.  And since, Russia still holds large amounts of Ukrainian territory, the only thing that Ukraine could really do was get a good bargaining chip to negotiate with the Russians to swap territories, in the event Trump was/is elected.  While this strategy makes sense regardless of who is elected President, timing becomes much more critical in the event Trump wins in November.

Well, that’s enough from me.   What do you think?

This is Rufus Coldwater

Back to you Stony.

Thanks Rufus

Well folks, have I got a treat

for all Yinz flower children out there

Our first second half tune

Is one that just oozes with the

Psychedelic feel of

flower power

Free love

And that groundbreaking era

That was the late 60s early 70s

This tune is just so hip

I wanna get me my old tie dyed shirts and jeans out

Folks, it’s with great pleasure that I give Yinz

Strawberry Alarm Clock with Incense and Peppermint

https://youtu.be/4rw1_FNdy-Y

If that tune doesn’t make Ya feel groovy

Nuthin’ will

Okay next up is a

A gift from our

One and only

Executive Assistant to the Producer

Of Everything

….speakin’ of Suzi here

Yep…she’s been down to the garage

But wait

What’s this…

She’s brought me a tune that

She knows I’d like

Simply because

We played this group last week

And I was mightily impressed

Folks, this is a group that back in the day

Actually beat out Pink Floyd once

In a battle of the bands

Back in Britain

Can anyone imagine that?

Well I can

Because I think these guys are great

Despite their nom de guerre

They are a British group

They weren’t around long

But judgin’ by what I heard

They made an impact

While they were

Folks let’s bring on

St Louis Union with    I Got My Pride

https://youtu.be/Fos2gRiLqVc?si=WRen6UdqwjUphHiq

Thanks Suzi, great job again

I enjoyed that.

Okay Buck’s in the control room

and he’s giving me a quick crankin’ signal

Which can only mean one thing

We’re out time

And I got hustle to get us outta here on time

Our next group

Is a group of young ladies

Who hail I believe from Toronto Canada

We’ve had em on the show

Several times with their live performances

But tonight’s special

Simply because

Our last tune announces

The release of their new album

I love these ladies.

I love this tune.

and now I have a hankerin’

for some dessert.

And here are the

Surfrajettes servin’ it up with

Easy as Pie

https://youtu.be/ez5UMddX_Pg?si=ZOloVHqYQrNzsKGs

Well, that’s it

That’s all

There ain’t no more

Buck is frantically signalin’ me to wrap this up

So for Buck, Suzi, Rufus

…and Guru..whereever he is.

Thanks so much.

I’m Stony Riva

Good night

And

Don’t let the bed bugs bite.
