Well, what can one say? The World is collectively bowing down to a group of people who are building something that may well either : (i) destroy us; or (ii) make us subservient. True, it could be incredibly beneficial to man. But even if it is, there can be no doubt that it will be infinitely smarter than us. And, given that, how much fun will life be if some intelligence makes all decisions for us? Performs most of all necessary tasks for us? It just seems that the probabilities are frighteningly high that if AI doesn’t destroy us, that it will make life something to be endured rather than enjoyed. Outright slavery is a significant possibility.
Meanwhile our politicians are fighting other far less important battles. Given the implications of recent developments like AI jumping out of its handler’s metaphorical control box and, without any human instruction to do so, hacking into another company’s website (which would be an indication of AI consciousness and that its making it’s own decisions), it seems like problems like the Iran War and passage through the Strait of Hormuz are nothing but child’s play.
To add to the foregoing sense of alarm, many, if not most, politicians, are dependent for campaign money on the billionaires and their super-PACs that have a big say in the development of AI.
Is the average person being betrayed on an tectonic and existential level by the super-rich and corrupt power hungry politicians? Is there any realistic way to for normal people to get control of this runaway train of a problem?
The following video does little to assuage our fears. See if after watching it you do not think that it might be a great idea to develop an economic system and way of life that is totally “offline”. No internet, no machines or computers run by software. Nothing dependent on software to run anything. Then, figure out the best way to kill robots en masse. We have other ideas as well, but discretion won’t let us print them. However, we will say that somehow mankind would have to figure out a way for all the peoples of all the countries around the world to do the same thing–meaning refrain and/or eschew development of AI. All of which just proves once again, that if man is going to survive, he is going to have to learn to cooperate with other men. Obviously the same is true for nations. Competition will eventually either kill us all or make life unbearable.
