What exactly is Tick’s Notes and Tunes: The simplest answer is that it’s a fictional radio broadcast transcript. TnNT as we call it was started in an effort to have fun and find new tunes. All kinds of tunes, rock, country, punk, bluegrass, classical, soul, rhythm & blues you name it. We particularly like to finding obscure hidden musical gems–although that is not by any means all that we do. The most important thing is that the tunes be something the audience will want to listen to. So familiar hits are sometimes included as well. And every “broadcast” includes several different types of music all within one broadcast. In other words we would have not trouble including a blue grass tune in a show that also has some hard rock, although we do try to make all “transitions” tasteful, palatable and most importantly, listenable.
Usually, included at half-time is an “editorial” which addresses real political, economic and social issues. All at www.reasonandbalance.com. Naturally our older “broadcasts” (meaning our older blog posts) stay posted on our site so you can visit anytime and read/listen to new and old content. To actually listen to the tune one must click on the link provided. All music is provided offsite.
We feel our broadcasts have both artistic and historic merit because they go a long way to preserving actual man-made music. This may well be very important in today’s artificially-made everything, including, very unfortunately, music.
All characters and organizations on the fictional radio show are fictional and any similarity to any similarity to any real person or organization is sheer happenstance.
