Good evenin’ folks
It’s time for more DJ Ltd
And Stony and Suzi are here
To bring it all to all of yinz
And of course GURU
Who was out plyin’ his trade
Just a singin’ away last night
At a new place
In any event, GURU has left us
With a suggestion or two for tunes
One of which is our first one
So, we’re gonna start with a tune
By a guy and a gal from Texas…Dallas that is
who, happened to personally know a group
that we featured the last time
The Gap Band
They ultimately got married
To each other…that is
And not …of course
to the Gap Band….
But not before they recorded this hit tune
That topped the Billboard charts in 1981
And they will tellya
And we would clearly agree…
Don’t Stop the Music
https://youtu.be/qvvI0fPoVAU?si=geRoz1pQHfsdwvFI
…well now that Yarbrough and Peoples
got us groovin’
Let’s see what else
GURU’s got in the hopper for us tonight
Okay,
hhhmmm
folks
lookin’ through GURU’s notes here
what can ole Stony say
GURU left a message just insistin’
that we play this next tune
And in thinkin’ about it
I think it’s a grand idea
I mean this really is
JJs sortuv dippin’ his big toe
into soul..
…kinda
…
…ya know
I never really thought of this tune
that way
but that may be spot on
Anyway
yinz all know how
GURU just loves JJ
…I mean luvvs JJ
So here it is
JJ doin’ yet another of his own tunes
So please enjoy…..
Nobody but You
https://youtu.be/9UwvE0AO59k?si=vDuBI3havDuQDJgy
[Yeah,
that of course
was our old friend
- Cale….
I really have to wonder if JJ
ever did anything that
GURU didn’t like.]
Okay next up
we have a duo
who are perhaps
shall we say
a tad more balanced
about the nature of love
than JJ was in that last tune
I mean their view is…
“Hey let’s get real here!”
The gentleman here is
Noel McKay
I mention him first
because he’s done quite a bit
of collaboratin
with a wonderful lady that
yinz are now all very familiar with
In fact last time we visited this lady
she was a singin’ with Noel as well
The two of them
Co-wrote this next tune
It’s called
Be My Ball and Chain
https://youtu.be/HBaPZP_DJVk?si=X00p-NYwq-z1o0mV
One thing I find really interestin’
About that video is
That Noel has his capo at the first fret
And Brennen Leigh has hers at the third fret
…so that means
unless there’s other special tuning involved
her guitar is tuned one whole step above his and
…well
….as Artie Johnson used to say
As he peaked thru the bushes
…wire rimmed glasses…
…wearin’ his Kraut helmet n all
….yeah…him
Yinz old geezers
should remember him anyways
…. Yeah,,..from back in the days of Laugh-In
Yeah …Dan Rowan
…and “say goodnight Dick” Martin
…”.vewwwy eeeenteresttinnngk”
Well…enough nostalgia….
GURU and I both love this next tune
According to the Oracle of Wiki
“[Our next artist’s] sound
was partly caused by a back problem,
known as hollow back or lordosis which affects
the way in which she uses her diaphragm muscles
when singing, producing a more throaty sound.”
Throaty or not she’s a great singer
And mega sexy too
Who interestingly enough is a citizen
Of both
Italy and Australia
But lives in Great Britain…
Or at least I think she does.
In any event, I’m sure yinz is gonna enjoy
Nothin’ Sweet About Me
By Gabriella Cilmi
https://youtu.be/qvuyYj5ROmk?si=XhvgKQGyME3oa0Rb
I’ll tell ya
Gabriella is really somethin’
Okay, yeah yeah
Yes…I got the memo Suzi
It seems that tonight we start a brand new feature
Of DJ Ltd
We’re goin’ to cut away here to
Give ownership a chance to express themselves
On topics which they deem to be
Relevant and
Important
So here without further ado
Is our illustrious station manager
To lay it on us……..

EDITORIAL (Opinion and Analysis)
Good evening folks.
I was at the checkout counter of a convenience store this morning. The lady in front of me was having trouble with her cellphone. Apparently, it wasn’t connecting with her credit or debit card and she could not pay for her order. While this was happening the lady was apologizing to everyone for any inconvenience she was causing. She was embarrassed, as most people would be, and the cashier was dutifully sympathetic. As the line lengthened, the customer and cashier started commiserating. Both noting that they no longer carried either cash or credit cards on them when they went about their daily affairs. In any event, after about a minute or so of what seemed like eternity, her phone was finally able to consummate the transaction.
Everyone has a bad day, and occasionally I too have been the cause of a delay or two at checkout. However, what bothered me most about the situation was that the idea that she never carried cash. My concerns on this point are much like those folks who object to the government’s efforts to digitize the U.S. Dollar.
The bottom line is this: Like so many things these days are unwittingly giving up our individual freedoms all for the sake of speed and convenience. How? Simply put, we are giving the government increasing powers to track and watch our every move. This is because every transaction (other than those done in cash) is electronically recorded and is thus traceable. Moreover, if someone flips a switch somewhere or puts some kind of virus or other bug in the system all of the data relating to how much, in this case digital money, we own is subject to being changed or totally eliminated without our consent.
Moreover, if the government were to completely replace tangible U.S. dollars with digital currency, it would put every citizen at the mercy of any government or unscrupulous public official prone to imposing their will on the public. Everyone, including public officials and legitimate otherwise law abiding candidates for public office would be subject to at the least the threat of prosecution for some type of crime if they did not do something that an evil doing public official wanted. Private citizens would also be subject to similar threats.
There is also a second potentially even more devastating problem. In an age when cyber warfare becomes an increasing possibility, having the amount of money owned by anyone, particularly banks not backed by actual physical assets (as in gold or printed dollars), puts the entire financial services sector of the economy at risk. And since the amount of money anyone has represents a portion of what their banks have, it puts everyone’s bank accounts at risk of total loss if some virus or cyber attack wipes out the memory banks of some computer server somewhere.
The point that I’m making is that when citizens eschew the use of hard U.S. Dollars, they make it easier for the government to remove hard cash from our financial system. Moreover, and this is also particularly alarming and objectionable, many private companies (who shall remain nameless) that process payments for various retailers and other vendors for a fee, are trying to force all sellers of goods and services to stop taking cash because cash takes time and expense to count, securely move and store. So, in a sense, the use of cash is under increasing attack. But the point is that freedom isn’t free. We all have to be willing to pay and/or sacrifice something to preserve our freedom and, if we fail to do so, we will lose our freedoms.
I for one, do not want a government, or anyone else, who has total ability to track everything I do in real time. Some might say, “Well, if you don’t do anything wrong you’ll have nothing to worry about.” The trouble is, I could do everything right but there are certain things that are private that I feel are no one else’s business. Moreover, and even more importantly, I’m worried about future possibilities, particularly about oppressive governments here at home and belligerent ones abroad.

Okay, we’re back now with more DJ ltd
What’s this?
Oh Suzi
You really know how to tug
at me ole heartstrings
Now you don’t want ole Stony breakin’ down
into sniveling booo hooing
sentimental …..
…you know…..whatever.
Folks this next tune
Really takes ole Stony
And GURU I might also ad
Back to our old school days
Livin’ there with the lads
..and mighty fine lads they were
But bein’ a tad Suthen
Maybe I should call’em boyz
Yes yes yes
I used to play this next tune
Quite a bit
Back in those days
So I’ll just put it on
And excuse myself to …
….whereever
And enjoy it
Along with all Yinz
Out there in radio land
Btw here’s a heads up
according to Google
the word “sarnies” is British slang
for “sandwiches”
and ….hmmmmm
and just reading general comments
pertaining to the recording
“pool” is a reference to Blackpool England
And lookin’ at the map
It’s A place on the west coast of Britain
North of Wales South of Scotland
And East of Ireland
anyway it’s on the coast
and is perhaps a vacation spot for some.
“Smoke” apparently is a reference to London
Candy floss is Cotton Candy
Edward Bear was a politician back in the 1960s and 70s
And it’s “aunty Flo” the singer’s relative.
GURU tells me to point all of this out
Because the butt-holes from the
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
Are either too ignorant and lazy to
want to figure anything out
…either that or..
They are
too arrogant, smug
And frankly stupid
To figure out that the Hall itself
Loses credibility as the
,,,quote Rock n Roll end quote
Did yinz hear that in Cleveland ?
The Rock n Roll
….I said Rock n Roll
……Hall of Fame
When it admits
Dolly Parton
But doesn’t admit
Our next mega talented group
Who’ve been around
And even appeared in the
Seminal and very famous
Rolling Stones Rock n Roll circus
Back in the 60s
And at the Isle of Wight concert
…with Jimi Henrix, Miles Davis and the Who etc.
…600,000 folks there ya know.
There
now that we’ve vented
let’s Enjoy…
Up the Pool
By the way
I love ya Dolly
But ya ain’t rock n roll…
https://youtu.be/JKHbllc2wY8?si=CEbRtrdqbkKz6Aqa
Gosh, I don’t know about Yinz folks
But that tune went down with Stony
Like Me mom’s
Warm buttery
French toast on a Saturday mornin’
What a great idea Suzi… thanks
Well..
Once again it’s time to wrap this edition up
And as always
We do so
With a fittin’ cleanup hittin’ tune
well. ….hold the press
Folks, just got this in
Legendary guitarist
Dickie Betts has just passed away
Wow….it’s just amazing
Indeed… just amazing
I don’t know what to say…
I mean the Allman Brothers were
Clearly one of the most important bands
Of the late 60s and 70s era.
And not just southern rock either
Remember brother Duane played for a while
With none other than Eric Clapton
… Derek and the Dominoes
If my memory serves me correctly
What a loss!!
apparently
Cancer and COPD finally claimed Dickie
Well..
First Duane, then Barry then Gregg and now Dickie
All the really well known singers
Of the Allman Brothers gone.
So, I guess it’s only fitting
That we change course here a little
And wrap things up
With Our fav Dickie Betts tune
All I can say is
Rest in peace Dickie
Rest in peace.
https://youtu.be/68X8o0S7vJc?si=eUX-f5zhZEWl3Rtu
That of course was Ramblin Man
Okay folks that’s it
Yinz folks out there
in audience land
are simply the best
And so,
Until next time
This is Stony Riva
For GURU
And little Ms. Suzi too
Sayin…
Thanks for listenin’
Thanks for watchin’
Good Night
And please please
Don’t let them bed bugs bite.
