Here’s what I call an old WRVA goodie.
When I was a young teenager
my mom, always tuned into
WRVA radio
and Alden Aaroe on in the morning.
Aaroe was an important guy to us kids
Because he was always the one who announced
School closings on snow days.
Thinking back on it…Aaroe’s voice and the tunes
He played are like part of the soundtrack of my life.
Anyway, Aaroe played a lot of artists like
Andy Williams, Peggy Lee and Johnny Matthis
But I particularly remember
always smiling Andy Williams
That’s because
Andy once had his own TV show
And always wore pastel colored suits with
Those real wide solid also pastel colored ties…
that in his case always
Exactly matched the color of his suit.
His ex-wife Claudine Longet ( Lonjjjaaa)
…a beautiful French girl
had an affair with Olympic skier Spider Sabich
She ended up shooting (and killing) Sabich
…but was later convicted of only Manslaughter
Occasionally, Claudine played a love interest
of some of the men
On McHale’s Navy….
Tim Conway comes to mind.
